Questions to Ask at a College Fair

  3. What is the campus size?
  4. Are you located in an urban, suburban or more rural environment?
  5. What is the makeup of the student body?
  6. Where do you tend to draw your students from?
  7. What kind of students are you looking for?


  1. What are some of the more popular majors? Do you have my major?
  2. What is the average class size?
  3. Are major classes taught by professors or graduate students?
  4. What opportunities exist for research, independent study, or study abroad?
  5. Do you have an honors program?
  6. I’m planning to major in XX or XX. Are there specific admissions requirements for these majors?
  7. How do first year students choose classes?

Student Life

  1. What do students do in the evenings and weekends?
  2. What kinds of the clubs and activities do you have?
  3. Is there a Greek system or other social fraternity/sororities?
  4. What kind of student housing is available and for how long is a guaranteed?
  5. Is your sports program large and diverse? Are you known for a particular sport or activity? What division do your athletes play in?
  6. Do you offer intramural sports?How popular are intramural sports?
  7. Are there special facilities in your interest area, i.e., radio station, computer access, jazz band? What are your emissions standards?

Jobs/Internships and Career Planning

  1. How is job the job placement?
  2. How about placement in law or medical school, etc.?
  3. Do you have career planning?
  4. Are there internships or co-ops?


  1. Do you have specific academic or high school course requirements for admission?
  2. What application materials do you require?
  3. What is the most important part to the application?

  5. How do you measure demonstrated interest?
  6. Can you tell me about your application process? What are the deadlines?

Financial Aid

  1. What are the tuition, room and board, and total cost (of program) of the school?
  2. What kind of financial aid is available? What financial aid forms do you require?
  3. Do you have merit-based scholarships? Is there a separate form for an academic scholarships?

Visiting Campus

  1. How can I register to visit your school? Do you offer campus tours?
  2. Do you have any upcoming open house or larger on-campus programs?
  3. Can I meet with a faculty member?
  4. Will I see a dinning or residence hall?
  5. When is the best time to visit?
